Girls Softball Falls in Two Conference Games

The Lancer fastpitch softball team suffered two conference losses last week, falling to Hilbert/Stockbridge on Tuesday by a score of 7-1, and then suffering a tough loss at Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Thursday, 10-5.

On Tuesday against Hilbert/Stockbridge, senior Aubry Bree Hansen readies for the pitch during the game against Hilbert/Stockbridge on Tuesday.Schleis pitched the full 7 innings, recording 6 walks and 6 strikeouts. Junior Jenna Lischka led the team defensively with 3 put-outs, 2 assists, and no errors. Coach Erin Hulse commented, "Lancer bats were alive but did not hit the gaps, and the Hilbert/Stockbridge team took care of the ball."

Against the Resorters Thursday, the Lancers had hits and had a solid pitching effort from Schleis, who struck out 8 while only walking 3, but we couldn't take the game. Junior catcher Sam Siehr’s bat came alive with two singles and a double, and she also threw out a Resorter stealing second. Coach Hulse's comments from this game, "Elkhart Lake hit the gaps. They earned their runs -- we committed no errors. (Offensively) we did well making contact, but hit a lot directly to them."

Our JV softball team lost its first two games of the year. They first fell to Valders on April 11th by a score of 11-10. The Lancers led the whole game and were up 10-5 going into the last inning before suffering defeat. Then on April 14th our JV team lost to Mishicot, 21-1.

This week the Lancers varsity, now 1-3, host conference opponent St. Mary Catholic (1-3) on Tuesday at 4:30pm (the same time our baseball team hosts SMC as well). We then travel for two non-conference games, heading to Sheboygan Falls (1-7) Friday for a 3:30pm matchup, and then meeting up with cross-town rival Roncalli (0-4) on Saturday at 11am. Following the SMC game Tuesday, our JV team hosts Random Lake at 6:15pm, and then heads to Roncalli the next day for a 4:30pm game Wednesday against the Jets.

Come to the Lancer softball field Tuesday and travel to the games later this week to see some great softball action and support our Lancer softball teams!
