Quarterly Campaign Update
August 2024
Project Update
The Building Our Future on Christ Building Project is coming along nicely. We feel blessed to say that it is on track to be completed by the 2024-2025 Basketball Season!  There will be lots of construction activity over the next several weeks leading up to the start of school. Almost all that activity will be confined to the new building and adjacent areas and should have little impact on daily school and co-curricular activities. The fact that the parking will be completed is a huge bonus. As with any construction project, it has been a constant adjustment for anyone coming on campus and we sincerely appreciate your understanding. Below is a short list of areas being worked on as of late.
  • Parking lot curbing and islands
  • Painting in the gym and locker rooms
  • Hanging lights installed in the gym
  • Parking lot lights were installed this week.
  • Basketball hoops have been installed.
  • Door locks and hardware will be next week.
  • The gym floor installation is scheduled to begin on August 19th. Installation time is about six weeks.
  • The gym's sound system has been selected and needs to be installed prior to the floor installation. The sound system installation requires the use of some heavy equipment that we do not want to see traveling on our new gym floor. Hopefully, that can all be coordinated so we can stay on schedule.
  • The Interior Design Committee's agenda includes many items that may appear trivial to some, but to this committee, they are not trivial at all. They're getting very close to checking all the boxes as we are approaching the point where final decisions on even the smallest details need to be made.
  • Discussions on the location of the bullpen and a surface water drainage plan for the area between the new addition and the baseball field are still in progress.

Finishing Strong

Have you ever been to a cross country race? I still remember my first time. I was amazed how everyone supported everyone. I was taken back, as I saw parents and grandparents running to the next opening where they could catch a glimpse of their athlete to cheer them on for that brief moment. I also saw how some parts of the race were a bit harder than other portions of the race due to hills, mud, rain, and  even sleet thanks to Wisconsin weather. As the spectator, your end goal was to see the runners cross the finish line, and do whatever you could do to help them get there. As the runner you obviously wanted to finish! The runner has options as to how they want to finish.

Option One: Give it all you got and leave nothing left behind. OR Option Two: Pick the runner just ahead of you and make it your goal to pass them, one at a time to the finish line.

The Building Our Future On Christ campaign is so close to the finish line! Like a cross country race, the path at times seemed like we were running uphill, it felt slippery at times, or even impossible with obstacle after obstacle. Regardless of how you describe it, no doubt it has been a race led by God's amazing grace and continues to be surrounded with loving supporters and spectators. As we see the finish line is around the next corner, we have options on how we want to run this last leg.

The question we need to ask ourselves is what can we do to help Manitowoc Lutheran High School Finish Strong? Is it to pray for God to bless Manitowoc Lutheran through this campaign? Or, it could be fulfilling your pledge sooner if you are able. Maybe it is making a one-time donation, or choosing MLHS to be your first option to support with your financial gifts.  It could be you finding out if your employer has a matching program. Maybe it is being an ambassador for the campaign and spreading the word about the mission of MLHS, "to use our God-given gifts to help each student become thoroughly equipped for paths of service to our Redeemer."  Whatever role it is, please know we sincerely appreciate you. We would NOT be where we are today without all of you!

In closing, I want to share once again the words from the MLHS student body president, at the groundbreaking ceremony, “Thanks to our Lord and Savior. Let’s use this new project to serve our MLHS family, to serve others, but most importantly, and above all, to serve and give thanks to the one who gives all.” -Logan Brooks

Dedication Service

How exciting it is to tell you to be sure to SAVE THE DATE for the service where we will come together to dedicate the new gym and locker rooms! On Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 2pm we will do just that! The committee is being assembled to start the planning.

Make sure you, your family, and friends can all be part of MLHS history by attending this blessing made possible by you and our gracious Lord and Savior.

Lancer Gala 2024 Outcome

This inaugural gala focused on "closing the gap" of the $104K needed by the end of March 2024, to finish off the locker rooms. The goal for this event was set for $100,000. Finishing the locker rooms was a priority, and  the Lancer Family did not disappoint. That night of celebration and support raised a little over $150,000!!!

Check out the April Lancer Link to enjoy a highlight reel of the Lancer Gala. To GOD be all the Glory!

Please SAVE THE DATE for next year's gala! It will be taking place on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center! Watch for registration to open in mid-September! (Last gala we had to turn people away because it was to full capacity so don't delay!)

If you are interested in becoming one of the major sponsors for this event, or would be interested in matching, please contact Kevin Buch today at kmbuch@mlhslancers.org.
