LLS August Professional Development Days: August 5-8

Our professional development days are scheduled for the week of August 5^th. We will alternate each year between June and August because of the Northern Wisconsin District Convention taking place on alternate years. Some basic information on these 4 days follows:

Monday, August 5th- Sadlier Math Professional Development (Virtual) 9:00am

• Audience: Those using Sadlier Math now or in the future. 

Tuesday, August 6th- Early Childhood Professional Development Morning

• Topic: Child Portfolios- Using Authentic Observation to Document Children's Development (9am - 11am)
• A light breakfast will be served starting at 8:30am
• Creative Curriculum & High Scope Discussion- LLS early childhood curriculum study discussion after PD for those interested in learning more. (11am - 11:30am)
• Audience: Early Childhood directors, teachers, and staff

Wednesday, August 7th- Telling the Next Generation (8:30am – 2:00pm)

• Utilizing our early childhood centers and schools for outreach. 
• Lunch and snacks will be provided.
• Audience: principals, EC directors, teachers, pastors, evangelism chairmen, church members, support staff, and anyone interested in attending

Thursday, August 8th- FastBridge Interventions & Progress Monitoring

• Our next SPED Team meeting is coming up at end of March/early April. More info will come on this session in the near future. 
• Audience: Learning Coordinators/SPED Directors, reading and math interventionists, classroom teachers

   Grades K-1 FastBridge Math Assessment Training

The LLS SPED Team will be holding a training session for implementing the FastBridge Math Assessment for grades K-1. 

Where: Manitowoc Lutheran High School

When: Tuesday, March 26th @ 4:00pm (approx. 1.5 - 2 hours)

What to Bring: Your device

Trainers: Rachel Nemitz

All materials will be provided for you to create a "Fastbridge Math Assessment Binder." You will leave this training session with all of the materials you need to implement the Fastbridge math assessments at your school!

Topics: 

- Assessment Logistics

- Materials and Time Needed

- Location of resources in FastBridge (materials, training, etc.) 

DEADLINE- The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, March 20th 

If you sign up after the deadline, materials to create your binder may not be provided. This deadline allows time for the purchasing of materials. 

Flexible Training: Trainers will stick around after the session for those that need additional help or have more questions. Some may finish earlier than others depending on the level of help needed.

This training session will not be recorded. A virtual option will not be available.

Fine Arts Update

Bye Bye Birdie – Matinee: Thank you to all that RSVP’d for the matinee.  We look forward to seeing you on Friday, March 8^th.  Just a few reminders:

• Doors will open at 8:40am
• Suggested pick up time is 11:30.
• There is a charge of $2 per student. 
• Checks should be written out to Manitowoc Lutheran High School.  Please mail your check or hand deliver it to Mr. Ungemach on March 8th when you arrive.
• We are expecting a full house!

Lakeshore Lutheran Music Festival: The festival will be held on Friday, April 12^th.  Information is being coordinated by Mr. Holper and sent out to principals and fine arts contacts.  If you have any questions, please contact Joel Ungemach at your convenience.

Jr. Lancer Band & MLHS Symphonic Band Concert: will be held on Sunday, April 21^st in the MLHS gymnasium.  This concert is always very unique as it features all of our band students from 5^th grade through Senior.  It’s a great opportunity to support your current students in Beginner Band & Concert Winds while also supporting those graduates that are now part of the MLHS Symphonic Band.

Youth Soccer Registration Open

The Youth Soccer program will cover all grades (K to 12). Any children that belong to one of the WELS Churches within the Manitowoc Lutheran Federation are eligible to participate. The Manitowoc Lutheran Youth Soccer Club is a member of the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association and is a member of the Lake to Lake Soccer League for grades K to 12. The Lake to Lake Soccer League will be a recreational league and all players will be assigned to a team. The League is made up of coed teams.

Part-time Afternoon Preschool Assistant Position Available: Jesus‘ Lambs of Grace (2426 N. Rapids Rd., Manitowoc)  is looking for one or more people willing and able to assist with the care of children during the afternoon hours of 1:00-5:30pm Monday through Friday. This shift could be split if we have more than one person interested. If you, or someone you know, over the age of 18, loves working with kids, has one or more afternoons available, and would like a flexible part-time job, please contact the preschool at 920-482-0001 and ask for Peg Janke.
