Stand Firm-

Because There is Eyewitness Proof

This week in chapel we will be led by our Guidance Director Mr. Ryan Hulse, the text for this week come to us from 1 Corinthians 15: 1-8, Acts 2:32-39, 1 Corinthians 15:12-20.

Like many things in Scripture, we hold them to be true by faith. But many times God gives us evidence as well...and such is the case with Jesus' resurrection. Many saw him alive once again. And the disciples...either they were the most despicable of people by saying Jesus lives, or they really did see him alive. They did. It helps.

Join us live each day of the week, except Wednesday, as we are live on Instagram @mlhslancers, or on Livestream

Lancer Volleyball Preview

The 2022 Lancer varsity volleyball team aims to finish in the top 3 in the Big East North Conference this year.  The Lancers return 3 starters and 1 letter winner to the varsity team and have 12 players on varsity.  (4 seniors, 6 juniors, 1 sophomore and 2 freshman).  There are 12 players on JV1 (3 freshman and 9 sophomores) and also 12 players on JV2 (all freshman and 1 junior foreign exchange student).  The coaching staff consists of Lacey Behnke as the head varsity coach assisted by Jordan Menges.  Nathan Gurgel is the head JV1 coach and assisted by Kallie Fels.  Rachel Kenneke coaches JV2 and is assisted by Makayla Kasten.

Head Coach Lacey Behnke feels the Lancers have a really good shot at winning the North.  Hilbert and St. Mary's look to be the other top teams.  Overall, Howards Grove will be the team to beat again.  They are the 3-time defending State Champion.

Senior Mallory Mehlhorn is a three year returning varsity starter as the Libero.  "Mallory is the backbone of our defense and her leadership skills on and off the court are helping to guide this very young varsity team."  Junior Madison Luebke is returning as the starting middle.  "Her presence on the court commands the respect of opposing blockers to pay attention to where she is at all times.  Madison also puts up a HUGE block which makes the opposing teams' hitters adjust their shots and that works to our defensive scheme."  Senior Sam Siehr is also returning as a 3 year varsity player, second as a starting outside hitter.  "Sam's speed and athleticism can really frustrate opposing teams' defenses."  Senior Jenna Lischka is returning as a player/coach this year.  "After tearing her ACL this summer, Jenna will now play the role as a player coach.  Her role is to watch and work with the setters and watch opposing teams' offenses to look for tendencies."

Coach Behnke feels the team's mentality and easy going personalities will be their strength this year.  "Our team is very good at encouragement and picking each other up.  They hold each other accountable and push their teammates to work hard every day.  The team as a whole is a very easy going team.  They don't dwell on the mistakes.  They learn from their mistakes and then forget about them, move on and just play.  They don't take things too seriously which relieves a lot of stress and fear during competition."

Notable games on the schedule this year is the Tuesday Sept. 27th matchup against conference cross over team, Howards Grove. (away)  Another can't miss game is the conference matchup against St. Mary's at MLHS on Sept. 1st.
