MLHS Call Update

On 8/23/23 the federation issued two calls:
Pastor Jason Hacker, currently serving at Grace in Waukesha, was called to serve as the President of Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
Pastor Steven Bode, currently serving at Zion (Allenton, WI),  was called to serve as a Theology instructor.
As always, we ask that you keep these men and their families in your prayers as they consider where best to serve.

Cross Country Celebrates 20 Years!

On September 9th the 2003 Cross country team is celebrating the 20th anniversary of qualifying both their Boys and Girls teams to State.

To celebrate we are doing a casual gathering with a light lunch at the Lincoln Park fieldhouse in Manitowoc from 12-2pm on September 9th. This follows a meet at Lincoln Park that our current High School and Junior Lancers complete at that day.

Members of the 2003 CC team and their families are welcome to attend. Any supporters of the MLHS Cross Country are also invited. Please RSVP.

Please contact Abbey Bubolz at 920-860-6126 or at abubolz@mlhslancers.org to RSVP by 9/1.

A Look Back

This year celebrates 20 years since our 2003 Cross Country team qualified both the Girls’ and Boys’ teams for the WIAA State Division 3 Meet which was held at Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids (site of the current CC State Meet). This was a historic season for our Lancers as both teams managed to win their Sectional held at Sheboygan Lutheran to qualify for State.

The Lancer girls were coming off a dominating Conference championship the week before led by Senior Abbey Ring who took the individual Conference title and what would still stand as the 4k school record as well the week before. The Lancer girls were a heavy favorite going into this meet, but still had their work cut out for them with some good competition in Howards Grove the 2nd place team that day. The Lancer girls’ team consisted of Abbey Ring (Bubolz) ’04, Annika Duveneck ’06, Beth Bitter (Weiss) ’06, Lydia Stuebs (Tanney) ’05, Jenny Meineke (Beckman) ’04, Stephanie Volz ’04, Tammy Schunck ’06.

The Lancer boys had you asked anyone the week before were not a favorite to make it to State that year. In the days before automatic timing they didn’t actually know they made it to State until the announcement at awards for team scores. Not only did they qualify for State, they upset the field winning the meet by 1 point. The Lancer boys were led by Zach Bitter ’04 and Zak Hackmann ’05, both of whom had been All-Conference the week before. The rest of that team included Jake Ring ’06, Justin Nickels ’05, Matt Potthast ’04, Jeremy Seeger ’05, and Jeremiah Drews ’04.

These history-making teams were coached by Dave Ring, long time Cross Country coach of the Lancers. Assistants that year included Randy Kramer, Dave Nickels, Greg Stuebs, and Nancy Ring.

Lambeau Field & Resch Center

Did you know that over the last seventeen years the Friends of the Lancers have been graciously willing to donate their time at both Lambeau Field and the Resch Center in Green Bay? The volunteers primarily work in food and beverage concessions at Packers games and concerts, like Paul McCartney, Kenny Chesney, and more at Lambeau. At the Resch Center workers have volunteered for Blizzard games (indoor football), Gamblers games (hockey), dozens of concerts featuring Morgan Wallen, Old Dominion, and comedy group The Impractical Jokers.

If you are a parent, student (over 16), alumni, or friend of MLHS and are looking for a way to give to the school without spending a dime, this is a great chance to do so with brothers and sisters in Christ.

Let's take a moment to recognize and thank all who have selflessly volunteered their time to help F.O.L. donate over $100,000 directly to the MLHS athletic department through these opportunities. If you are available to help even just one time, want to be a regular, or just simply want to learn more, please contact Jon Schwalbe by at futurus429@gmail.com.
