Learn Your Lancers!

This homecoming week we will be led in chapel my Mr. Kevin Buch. Kevin has been with here at Manitowoc Lutheran since 2009, and is in his 36th year of ministry. He began his ministry at MLHS as the recruitment director and technology director and now serves full time as our technology director and teaches our Digital Media course.

This is the first installment of "Let's Get To Know The Psalms." Psalm 1 is chosen not just because it's the first in the list, but because of its message. It is truly a blessing to be in the "law" or in God's word! A beautiful picture is used to show how blessed we are to be at a school that focuses on the word of the Lord, and for each of us personally to be in it...to meditate on it...to think about it and learn it and even memorize it!

This week our chapel readings come to us from Psalm 1: 1-6

Join us live each day of the week we have school, except Wednesday, as we are live on Livestream

Shining Through Christ Making Light Shine!

On Saturday morning, members of Shining Through Christ spent some time volunteering at Peter’s Pantry in Manitowoc! The group separated 3 pallets of frozen meats, washed a delivery truck, got a tour of the pantry, and learned about all of the incredible work that this food bank does for our community. It was a great morning! We thank Peter’s Pantry for giving our students the opportunity to serve there again, and we look forward to continuing to work with the pantry in the future!

Lancer CC Continues to Improve

The Lancer Cross Country team had two competitions this past week. First up was the Sheboygan Lutheran hosted Crusader Invitational on Tuesday 9/14. This race was 3 days after the previous Invite and yet we still managed to have 13 season best times.

Boys Varsity finished 6th out of 24 teams. Jacob Kanzenbach led the way with a time of 18:24 and a medal earning 14th place finish. The highlight of the Boys’ JV race was Ricky Li besting his 2021 time by 6 minutes and 18 seconds to lead the boys JV to a 7th place finish. Girls Varsity finished 17th in the 24 team meet led by Trisha Kiss in a time of 24:14 finishing 44th out of 137 girls. Girls JV took 4th place led by Paula de la gala Moreta finishing in 24th earning a JV ribbon. The girls’ team was commended by the head official for their great cheering and support of all their teammates. Full results at www.tracksidetiming.com.

Our second meet of the week was Saturday 9/17. This was the Hilltopper Invitational hosted by St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary WI. The nickname for this meet is “Big Bertha” in reference to the large, steep hill ¾ of the way into the race. MLHS CC has been traveling to this meet since we started CC here 28 seasons ago. What that means is that anyone that has ran cross country for the Lancers (that’s about 400 individuals) have conquered Big Bertha. 18 Lancers ran this race for the first time on Saturday.

There were 17 teams at this meet and the Boys’ Varsity took 5th place with our top 3 guys finishing in the top 20 to earn medals. Jacob Kanzenbach took 13th place in a time of 19:00, Jonah Melso 15th in a time of 19:25, and Seth Ciha 17th in a time of 19:30-all 3 improving upon their times on this course last year. Boys JV took 7th place led by Ricky Li. Girls’ Varsity finished 11th with Trisha Kiss finishing 42nd place in a time of 24:57 as the first Lancer finisher. Bitsy Blauert, Taylor Schuettpelz, Isabella Blauert, and Sarah Welnicke rounded out the scoring spots for the Lancer girls. Girls JV finished 6th led by Kaly Wang. Full results at www.onyourmarkstiming.com.

The next meet on the schedule for the Lancers is the Jim Bremser Memorial Cross Country Meet hosted by Mishicot on Thursday 9/22. Our Junior Lancer Girls run at 3:40, Junior Lancer boys 3:50, Varsity Girls 4:15, Varsity Boys 4:50, JV Girls 5:25, and JV Boys 6pm. Results will be at www.xmtiming.com. This is a 38 team Invite and not too far away. Come Cheer on our Lancers!

Rockets Strong Offense Topples Lancers

Strong offense and defense for Cedar Grove-Belgium was the key to victory on Friday night as the Rockets bested the Lancers 63-14. The Rockets were able to score early and often both on offense and defense. The rockets defense intercepted not one by two passes and returned them for touchdowns.

Offensively the Lancers rushing attack was led by sophomore Kamden Baye who carried the ball nine times for 48 yards and a touchdown, senior Caleb Uhlhorn also added a tocuchdown on the ground. Uhlhorn was also the leading tackler for the Lancers on Friday night with 10 total tackles., Kaeden Storzer added eight tackles.

The homecoming football game this week the Lancers (0-5) host the Ozaukee Warriors (2-3) at Lancer Field at 7:00pm. It is also Meet the Lancers Night for grade school students.  All grade school students are admitted free into the game, after the game the students will get a chance to get autographs from the players! Come and cheer on the Lancers!
