Curriculum Coordinator LLS Assessment Team Lakeshore Lutheran Schools has been chosen as one of ten “districts” to participate in an assessment professional development opportunity. Through this grant, we receive funding ($23,000) for 12 professional development sessions, 5 sessions of “in-district” coaching support, and $1200 worth of sub pay for our participants. An Elevate Science rep gave a presentation on the program components and resources. We will continue looking at Elevate Science at our next meeting.
- We will do a quick preview of Amplify Science at our next meeting. A rep from Amplify will be sharing information on the program as well. The team will begin to compare and contrast the two programs utilizing the criteria from EdReports.
- The team has begun the process of creating of the LLS Philosophy page for science.
- The science department at MLHS is creating an “expectations” document for incoming freshmen. We will utilize their input to establish our LLS 8th Grade Exit Goals for Graduation.
- Out team continues to focus on professional development in “best practices” for science instruction. This PD includes reading and viewing:

- As of right now the summer testing window is set for 10 weeks. I may need to adjust this once our school start dates have been established for the 2024-2025 school year.
Early Childhood Professional Development Morning When: Saturday, April 20th from 9:00am to 11:00am. A light breakfast will be served starting at 8:30am. Where: Manitowoc Lutheran High School: Room 101 Topic: Large Muscle & Creative Movement Activities: What can you do when the weather is not cooperating, and the children are climbing the walls? Ideas will be presented for active games and activities that will burn energy for both teacher and children! This is an active class so dress for movement & comfort! Summer Professional Development Days The LLS summer professional development days will be held the week of August 5th. These are reserved on the LLS calendar on the website in the member portal. I am still working on finalizing these presentations. We will have one day reserved for math, one for our SPED Team work, and one for early childhood.
