Quarterly Campaign Update
November 2023
Groundbreaking Celebration Recap
We did it! Thanks to the Lord's grace and blessings for our campaign, and the continued support of love in prayers and gifts from our MLHS Federation, Alumni, and other supporters, on Wednesday, September 27th Manitowoc Lutheran High School celebrated the groundbreaking for our new gymnasium. (Above is a group picture taken from that celebration.)

Kevin Buch, MLHS Director of Mission Advancement, shared the following statement, " The focus today- is praise to our heavenly father for what he has given us, gratitude to everybody for what they have done to support this project, and excitement as we move forward into the future.”

Martin Plocher, MLHS Campaign Director added, “This campaign is not about the brick and mortar. It is about what happens inside these walls that make the Lancer family come alive. We prepare young hearts and minds for service for eternity, and for that we are thankful.”

Then, Logan Brooks, our MLHS student body president shared, “Thanks to our Lord and Savior. Let’s use this new project to serve our MLHS family, to serve others, but most importantly, and above all, to serve and give thanks to the one who gives all.”

Our official "groundbreakers" were future and current Lancer students from our Federation schools - the very students who will be the first ones to benefit from this new addition. We had one student from each grade, K-12, representing their Lakeshore Lutheran Grade School.

Clearing the Way

There has been a lot going on around campus since groundbreaking. As you can see from the outside, the construction has begun. The MLHS woods classroom took on the task of disassembling the Kurt Troge Courtyard. Mr. Kurt Troge faithfully served as the MLHS principal from 1996-2004. This process was bittersweet. We feel that Mr. Troge would have approved and also would have been excited about a long awaited addition of a gym. The pavers have been saved in hopes to honor Mr. Troge, perhaps with a new courtyard someday.

The stumps located by the baseball field have been ground down completely. The garage located on the east side of the school, which had been used to store maintenance and outside athletic equipment, has been uprooted and moved temporarily to the west side of the campus until its final destination is ready.

Earth-moving work on the west side of campus is happening as well, which is the initial work for our west parking lot expansion.

Construction Has Begun!

We had our share of rain and snow over the past two weeks, but we have been blessed to still have progress, and noticeable changes to the MLHS campus continues. The construction brings some friendly shaking of the ground that can be felt by all inside the building. The workers continue to excavate and pour footings. In addition they continue to form and pour foundation walls. Backfilling of the foundation has also begun. The backfill is coming from the west side of the campus from the parking lot extension, which is really beginning to take shape. In regards to the parking lot extension, next we will see gravel coming for the next layer.

Thank you to everyone for their patience for the inconveniences experienced along the way.
