| Greetings from MLHS, As we begin to transition from Winter to Spring there are many events I am personally excited about. We are only a few weeks away from March Madness, which is then quickly followed by the Master’s Golf Tournament. You will find me in front of TV more during these 4-5 weeks than any other time of the year. Students will begin to talk about Spring Break, and the anticipation for the summer is setting in. Can you believe that is only a few months away? Maybe you remember that feeling when you were a student here at MLHS. With all of those exciting feelings that comes with the Spring season, none of them compare to the reason we get to rejoice everyday of our lives. That reason is the death and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. We are entering the season of Lent, a season to reflect on our imperfections and short comings that sent Jesus to the cross, but ends with the glorious resurrection of our Savior. I pray that all of our alumni have a blessed Easter season and I look forward to the continued partnership with the ministry here at Manitowoc Lutheran High School. | | | | Big News: We have a March Match! We have recently been given gifts of $600,000 to use towards a matching grant funds drive for the campaign! What a blessing! For the next 4 to 5 weeks, we will be looking to match those funds. Reaching that goal will bring us 1.2 million dollars closer to our capital campaign ministry project. All new donations or pledges to the project will be counted towards this match. With our groundbreaking goal looming near, now is the time to see this project through. This addition will expand MLHS's ministry of spreading the gospel to as many members of the community and around the world as we can. As always, thank you Lancer Family for your support. We could never do it without you! |

| | | Faith Focus Day Inspires Students MLHS hosted its second annual Focus Day on Wednesday, February 23. This is a day set aside for students and teachers take a break from their regular classes to focus on a specific topic that is timely and relevant to our school family. This year, the topic was: "Living & Sharing My Faith.” The day was planned as response to a survey that was sent to our students earlier in the school year. The most popular responses among our students were questions like: "How do I share my faith? What exactly does that look like?" Instead of limiting that topic to just one chapel, we decided to devote an entire day. We began with worship in the gym led by President Norv Kock. It was followed by a keynote address given by Pastor Phil Huebner of Wisconsin Lutheran High School. Pastor Huebner shared clear, practical examples of how high school students can currently share their faith in many situations through their actions and relationships with others. Following the keynote, eight additional guest speakers from various walks of life also came to MLHS: an attorney, a stay-at-home mom, a financial advisor, a therapist, an electrician, a photographer, a seminary student, and a military veteran. Students then had the choice of picking 3 of those guest speakers to hear about how they currently live & share their faith in their vocation. The day wrapped up with a few closing remarks in the gym and some thought-provoking questions: “So, what now?” God has given us many wonderful opportunities to live and share our faith—and we learned on this day that there are many ways to do that! | A huge thank you to Jon Schwalbe, class of '72, for organizing and running a concession stand at home Packer games for MLHS! This last season brought in an additional $13,000 in donations to our school. Fellow alumni Renee Megnes said, “Jon pours his heart and soul into being the organizer for running the stand that FOL has at Lambeau Field. He does an AMAZING job at this and just LOVES the people has met over the years who are Packer fans that literally come from all over the world.” Volunteers are at the heart of all our school events. If you see one, please take a moment to thank them for the difference they are making. If you want to make a difference, FOL is always looking for more volunteers for MLHS home games and Packer season concessions. As a perk this season, FOL got bumped up to the heated & air-conditioned BOX SEATS! |
