On Wednesday, May 5th all MLHS students, faculty and staff pitched in for Arbor Day! What is Arbor Day you may ask? Arbor Day was founded with the idea of planting and maintaining trees. Over the years Arbor Day has evolved into a day where we as Christians celebrate this wonderful blessing the earth is to us, and how God provides to us through his magnificent creation.

This year, Arbor Day at MLHS started with chapel and a school wide photo (seen above). After this time our students broke out into their teams and headed to their designated clean-up areas for the morning. The freshman worked around campus, moving rocks, removing tree limbs, and making the campus look beautiful. The Juniors worked at various houses around town, many were at teachers houses, go team Goat-ramp, helping to get some bigger outdoor projects accomplished.

Lastly the entire sophomore and senior classes were at the South Lakefront Wayside Park beach, just north of warm water beach.  helping the city to revitalize this area. The students cleaned the entire beach, clearing it of garbage, debris, dead fish, logs, driftwood, etc. This day is such a great opportunity for us to thank God for the blessing of this earth, and to serve the community we live in.

Thank YOU!

A huge thank you to all the parents for all of the amazing goodies you provided for the faculty and staff, and what a variety! Everything was delicious! Thanks for the warm appreciation you have shown. We feel blessed that you have brought your kids to MLHS! Thank you also to the Student Staff Services for arranging this special week!

Lakeshore Special Needs Prom Hosted at MLHS!

On Saturday, May 7th, MLHS students part of Shining Through Christ teamed up with Lakeshore Special Needs Prom to host an unforgettable night at the high school! Students arrived early on Saturday morning to decorate for the "Disney" theme and returned in the evening to dance with dozens of special needs friends in our community. Disney princesses, a photo booth, and a special grand march were just a few of the highlights from the day. We thank God for blessing us with a beautiful day and for allowing us to make many new friends!

Big News: The MATCH is STILL ON!

The MLHS building project continues to move forward and the board of control continues to consider how best to proceed in light of the current increase in costs. We are thankful that the $600,000 matching gift has been extended, which means that any new pledge or donation will be matched up to that amount. To this date, $341,615 has been matched. A groundbreaking date is still to be determined. Please pray for blessings on this campaign and on the ministry of MLHS, which is centered on our risen and victorious Savior!www.mlhslancers.org/donate

What a Special Day!

On Monday, May 2nd MLHS had their annual grandparents day. Over 180 grandparents signed up to take part. The day began with a welcome in the commons and the principal Dave Uhlhorn shared some fun facts with the grandparents about MLHS. They really enjoyed and appreciated learning more about MLHS.

Next was chapel that included a mass choir of grandparents and their grandchildren singing.

Grandparents enjoyed heading to class with their grandkids or getting a tour of the school from their grandkids.

Lunch was provided for the grandparents and they enjoyed being able to eat and visit with their grandkids.

We love to have the grandparents on campus and look forward to this day every year. Next grandparents day is scheduled for Thursday, October 13, 2022!

BE SURE TO TELL YOUR GRANDPARENTS TO SAVE THE DATE!

ATTENTION SENIOR PARENTS

You should have all received an email from principal Dave Uhlhorn regarding your need to know information about your senior child. Things like, will there be a senior parent breakfast? What time is graduation? Where is my child's graduation cap and gown? Can you sing "Be Strong in the Lord" with the mass choir at graduation?
