Jesus Lives!

That's right, Jesus lives, and so do we. Easter is more than just one day. We live every day in the light of Easter. Having just celebrated Jesus' resurrection, we'll look at the new life that Jesus' resurrection gives us all - a life that iis ours now, and will continue into eternity. This week in chapel MLHS is blessed to have our very own Campus Pastor, Rik Krahn bringing us God's word Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Friday we welcome Pastor David Ruddat from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Shirley, WI to be our guest preacher.

You can join us live for chapel by going to https://www.instagram.com/mlhslancers. Chapel times are located on the home page on the school website www.mlhslancers.org in the Upcoming Events section.

Call Update

Mr. Ryan Holper continues to hold his call from from Trinity Brillion to serve as 7th and 8th grade teacher. Please continue to pray for Ryan and his family, Trinity Brillion and MLHS as he deliberates where he can best serve

This past weekend Manitowoc Lutheran Fine Arts students from Choir, Band, Art, or General Music classes had the opportunity to go on the Fine Arts Trip to Chicago 2022.  A great time was had by all!

On Saturday, the Cantate/Concert Choir, the Symphonic Band, and the Lancer Singers participated in WorldStrides 2022 Chicago Heritage Festival of Music.  At this festival they competed against schools from Michigan, Arkansas, Missouri, Nevada and Illinois.  The groups had a very successful day.   The Concert/Cantate Choir received a Gold, Lancer Singers received a Gold, Symphonic Band received a Silver and best band at the festival.   The entire MLHS Music Department received Best Overall Music Program at the Chicago 2022 Festival and Katie Ungemach received an outstanding soloist award for her French Horn solos.   Congratulations to all of our music students at Manitowoc Lutheran!

The trip was an awesome way for our students to experience many forms of the Fine Arts.  It also gave them an opportunity to experience a bit of the “big city” life of Chicago in a safe and structured environment.  We thank the many people who encouraged the trip with their kind words, food & monetary donations, and above all…their prayers for safe travels and successful performances.  The students truly were a shining light throughout the weekend and the Chicago trip of 2022 will be a fond memory for many years to come!

Highlights of the trip:

  • Touring the The Art Institute of Chicago
  • Visiting the Shedd Aquarium
  • Enjoying an all you can eat pizza/pasta/salad buffet at the classic Giordano’s Pizza
  • Attending a live show, The Blue Man Group
  • Seeing Chicago from 95 floors above the city at Chicago 360 / TILT
  • Eating dinner and cheering on their favorite Knight at Medieval Times
  • Touring Millenium Park and CloudGate (The Bean)
  • Strolling / shopping / eating at Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue
  • The students attended church with our WELS friends at Jerusalem in Morton Grove as the Lancer Singers edified worship with five of the their sacred pieces.

Like last year, students will get the opportunity to enjoy God’s creation as they clean up around school, teachers’ homes, and the community.

Freshmen will be working on projects outside school helping beautify the campus. Sophomores and Seniors will be travelling to Lakefront Park to clean up the beach. Juniors will be split into groups and traveling to different teachers homes to work on a variety of projects for teacher’s and neighbors.

The day will begin at 8am with chapel. Students will then work from 8:30-11:30 and then come back to campus for lunch. Students can purchase hot lunch or bring a lunch from home. After lunch, students will enjoy games, activities, fellowship, and a kickball tournament with the day ending at 2:30.

Parents of Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors should fill out this waiver form to allow students to get to their various destinations.

Big News: The MATCH is STILL ON!

The MLHS building project continues to move forward with plans to break ground this summer.

The board of control will approve a plan for what gets done afterwards based on funding, cost of the particular stages of the project, and an approved line of credit. The goal is to see the project through to its completion while also being good stewards of the resources we’ve been given by God’s people.

The donors of the $600,000 match have agreed to extend the match past March!!! What a blessing!  www.mlhslancers.org/donate

In this class, students read in an online textbook and use strategies they learn to help improve their shop to drive in more customers.
