Building Our Future On Christ Campaign Update

A quarterly update on the Building Our Future on Christ campaign was sent to your email this past week. We are diligently working to develop a revised master site plan that will result in the most effective campus for years to come. This plan will also provide a logical, cost effective plan to "phase" all segments of the entire master plan, as funds become available. A Campaign update was also presented to the Federation Delegates on November 12th. Please see your MLHS church delegate or your Campaign contact person if you have any questions. Contact campaign@mlhslancers.org if you did not receive the quarterly email update, or if you would rather receive the updates in the mail. Find all campaign related information, including past updates, by visiting www.mlhslancers.org/campaign. Thank you for all of your support to your high school!

Learn Your Lancers!

Greetings from MLHS has the crisp winter air has moved in, we pray that you find peace and love through Christ as the days get shorter and colder. This week MLHS will be led in chapel by Mr. Joel Barthel. Joel is one of our science instructors here at MLHS, this year he is teaching: Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics, Environmental Science, Introduction to Psychology, and PLTW Principles of Engineering. Joel is also the lead mentor for our FIRST Robotics team, and assistant Cross Country coach. Joel has been serving at MLHS since 2011.

This week we return to our school theme this year of Stand Firm, -Because Death is Now Just the Entrance to Heaven. The scripture focus this week comes to us from Philippians 1:18-26. Death is a reality...it comes because of sin. Many fear it. Perhaps you do, too. The thought of our own death or the reality of a loved one's death can cause us to stumble. But gives us the beautiful truth that when that moment occurs, we will find ourselves in the presence of our Savior in heaven! Join us each day this week for chapel as we get to hear about the amazing love of our God!

MLHS Call Report

On Saturday, November 12 the Board of Control issued a call to Pastor Larry Seafert to serve in the theology department. He currently serves at St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church in Kawkawlin, MI. Kevin Buch still holds the call from the Federation to serve as the Director of Mission Advancement, Martin Plocher is still holding the call from the Board of Control to serve as the Capital Campaign Director, and Jeff Dolan is holding his call from Minnesota Valley Lutheran to serve in their social studies department and coach. Please keep all these gentlemen and their families in your prayers as they consider where to best serve the Lord's people.

All parents are asked to volunteer throughout the year for a minimum of 2 slots for each sport their child is involved in.

There are a few nights where both girls and boys play on the same night.

If your athlete has a home game that night, please consider signing up as the away game parents will not be able to help cover shifts.

Veterans Breakfast and Worship

The MLHS service group hosted our second annual Veterans breakfast and worship service. This year we welcomed over 60 visitors into our building as we recognized and thanked those who served our nation.

The morning began with breakfast served in the MLHS commons by our service group Shining Through Christ, who has hosted this event both years. After breakfast all of our guests and students joined together for a worship service in the gymnasium. Pastor Melso (Bethany, Manitowoc) was the guest pastor for the day and we were reminded of the many rich blessings we have in this country, namely the freedom to worship our Lord and Savior, thanks in part to the service of our veterans. The worship service was edified through song by our choirs and the MLHS symphonic band.

Following the worship service WELS Military Services Committee Secretary, Paul Wolfgramm (former Infantry Marine), presented about his life in the military. A special thank you to everyone who helped make this great a great success! Those of you who missed it this year, we hope to see you next year!
