Curriculum/Special Education

Math Update

The LLS Math Curriculum Team had our first meeting on Tuesday, August 16th.  The team worked on the first draft of our LLS Math Philosophy Page and on our 8th Grade Exit Goals for graduation.  They also began reviewing the “into Math” program.  We will continue this work as well as reviewing another math program at our next meeting on September 23rd.  Thank you to our math team for all of your hard work.

The New LLS Math Curriculum Guides will be shared as soon as the philosophy and exit goals are finalized.

Fastbridge

We are excited to have a common LLS assessment tool, Fastbridge.  Fastbridge serves a variety of functions: universal screener for math, reading and behavior, dyslexia screener, provides interventions for reading, math and behavior, serves as a progress monitoring tool and more.  Training was completed for Fastbridge administrators in August, students have been uploaded, and set up should be just about complete.  We will have 12 schools assessing 630+ students this first year.

Jr. Lancer Band

Jr. Lancer Band lessons have begun at our Lakeshore Lutheran Schools.  JLB has a long and proud tradition of working with the LLS to provide band lessons and a group band experience for your students in grades 5-8.

In addition to lessons, the Jr. Lancer Band Program offers Beginner Band, Concert Winds, and Jazz Kidz.  It is of great benefit to the band students to play along side other instrumental students and learn what it’s like to play in a band and enjoy making music with one another.  Saturday rehearsal schedule is Beginner Band 8:30-9:15am and Concert Winds 9:30-10:45am.  This year our Jazz Kidz will be held in the 2nd semester only.

Jr. Lancer Youth Choir

Returning this year is the Jr. Lancer Youth Choir.  The JLYC exists to minister to and bless the families and community of the Lakeshore Lutheran Schools by offering our students in grades 4-8 an additional opportunity to praise our Lord and Savior, to grow in musicianship, to develop healthy vocal habits, and to nurture Christian friendships.  JLYC will only meet during the 1st semester, and rehearsals will take place on Saturdays from 8:30-9:15.  We will be asking you to distribute information to your 4th – 8th students and their parents to inform, invite, and encourage your 4th-8th grade students to join the Jr. Lancer Youth Choir.
